Oh I was always taught to leave only the bottom button undone only, regardless of two or three buttons? But I'm no expert and more of a fan of two button suits personally.

That's a 3 roll 2 and means that one isn't meant to be buttoned.
It would be really obvious to you that it's not supposed to be buttoned if you were actually wearing it.
And you're right, single breasted suits are tailored for the bottom button to remain undone.
That's why you see those ill fitting lines pulling on his suit.
Personally, I think they grew up in nice, preppy areas and schools where they had to wear nice clothes, and so slouching off and wearing baggy stuff was one way to rebel. The result is that these guys grew up dressing this way and just stick with it because they don’t give a fuck and they want to send that message to the world.
