In an effort to improve the sub I've created this stickied thread with useful links with some spreadsheets and lists of well known clones and their designer / niche counterparts.

These current lists are likely not fully up-to-date, so if you have a list of your own or would like to contribute in some way, please do.

Please start here and look through these resources before creating low effort posts.

New Pickup / Review My khamrah qahwah arrived today and it's exactly what i wanted

The original Khamrah is one of my favorite fragrances ever. My only nitpick is although unisex it leans more towards the feminine side and im a guy that prefers masculine leaning colognes, but that's just a small nitpick and takes nothing away from the fragrance.

So when i read the ingredients of Khamrah qahwah it seemed to me like a more masculine version of the original and i am happy to say im right.

It is less sweet (but still sweet) , more spicy (the ginger is the strongest of the spices), with a pleasingly bitter coffee note that's not too strong all while still having none of it's original dna lost.

The atomizer also sprays out more juice and the top comes off much more easier. I sprayed 1 spray on my wrist hrs ago and can already tell that the longevity and projection is just as beastly as the original.

Overall, i am very happy with my purchase and i like khamrah qahwah even more than the original. Thank you lattafa for the creation of these masterpieces and charging a very good price for them!

Discussion Detour Noir, any good?

Hi folks. I got a Detour Noir a week ago and I like the söell for now, there is no problem. Issue is, it smells so weird close up. When I put it on my wrist, in the air it smells sweet and great but when I smell my wrist, it smells weird like some kind of menthol scent. Is that normal? Feel free to ask me about the others 🫡

Discussion Are clones really all that good?

I see a lot of influences and reviewers hype up clones almost upto the extent that they say the originals aren't worth it. What are your thoughts and experiences? Any clones that you think really live upto the hype/expectations?

New Pickup / Review Clone House Review #3: Lattafa

Lattafa is a mixed bag. It has strong hits that are among my favorite budget scents, but its misses are among my least favorite scents I’ve tried. The quality seems boringly, middlingly consistent. Winter scents will last all day with medium projection, whether or not you want them to; summer scents last longer than expected due to synthetic ingredients. Lattafa is a good starting point for fragrance clones if you care about getting the most juice for your dollar, but their ability to replicate scents varies fragrance to fragrance.

Ameer Al Oudh Intense Oud (Replica By The Fireplace)

Sweet and oudy, transported me to sitting by a crackling fireplace on a cold winter’s day. Unfortunately, there was a sickly sweet note I couldn’t get past. I can’t tell what it is, but it made me go from appreciating the sweet, woody, and slightly spicy scent to scrubbing it off after less than 30 minutes.

Asad (Dior Sauvage Elixir)

I’m almost sad that this doesn’t live up to the hype. This fragrance can be summed up in three words: spicy woody vanilla. It’s perfectly middle of the road in almost every aspect, a jack of all trades and master of none. How spicy is it? Spicy, but not as spicy as similarly priced clones like Tobacco Touch. How woody is it? Woody, but not as woody as similarly priced clones like Rochas Moustache. How vanilla is it? Vanilla, but not as vanilla as similarly priced Lattafa clones like Nasheet. Opens with a strong Middle Eastern peppery spice that never truly goes away. Sweetness evokes spicy Coca-Cola. Pretty good projection and longevity.

Eternal Oud (Maison Francis Kurkdjian Grand Soir)

The amber is so strong that the opening feels slightly scratchy. After few minutes, it settles into a rich, warm amber with vanilla and a hint of fruitiness from the plum. It doesn’t have the depth of Grand Soir, but is closer than expected for 1/8 of the price. It smells a bit like Grand Soir got slightly diluted with an added drop of cranberry juice concentrate; still a nice, elegant fragrance but less formal than MFK. Unless you smell them side by side, it would take either a very trained nose or a terminally online cologne lover to tell the difference. This is the best Middle Eastern clone of Grand Soir, but I haven’t tried the American clone house versions. It has great longevity at 10+ hours with decent projection the entire time.

Honor & Glory

The pineapple crème brulee with a hint of vanilla drew me in, and the turmeric-forward spice and JPG-esque sweet note drew me away. Opens like a pineapple crème brulee and keeps adding vanilla as time goes on. Stays gourmand without being cloyingly sweet, but introduces a sweet note that reminds me of what made me put Ramz Silver in the “for sale” pile. The spice adds a nice balance; I just wish it were blended better to be more cohesive with the rest of the fragrance. Cinnamon, turmeric, and cashmeran give it a definite but subtle Middle Eastern twist, which I wasn’t expecting but enjoy.

Ishq al Shuyukh Gold (YSL Babycat)

From the moment I put it on to the moment I scrubbed it off three hours later, Ishq al Shuyukh smelled like heavy suede and leather. I could pick up very subtle notes of vanilla if I really tried. I’ve never smelled Babycat and, frankly, I no longer want to.

Maahir Legacy (Parfums de Marly Sedley)

I’m a big fan of Sedley and the mint and lime combination in Maahir Legacy is incredible. Better projection than most citrus-based scents – it lasts a full day without needing to reapply. Reminds me of a body wash in the upscale section of Target in both a good and bad way. On the plus side, it has an enticing combination of green and citrus notes that I enjoy; however, it smells synthetic and sits heavy, like most body washes I’ve used. I wish it were lighter.

Masa (Marc-Antoine Barrois Ganymede)

Opens with strong cumin and saffron with a hint of bitter mango; if I weren’t so interested in the drydown, I would’ve washed it off. As it dries down, the cumin goes away, highlighting the Ganymede-esque saffron and mineral notes with mango layered over top. Smells far more mature and premium than I expected from Lattafa. Ridiculous performance; almost 24 hours later, I can still smell the two sprays I put on my hand directly after taking it out of the box. The mango adds a nice touch, but I still smell like the spice section of a Middle Eastern grocery store for the first few hours. If this scent started at the 2-3 hour mark, it’d be among my favorites.

Nasheet (Nishane Ani)

Despite not listing notes of lemon or vanilla, this fragrance delivers a beautiful spiced lemon vanilla. The spice is mostly nutmeg, though I can pick up a bit of woody and peppery feel from the frankincense. Despite the strong spice, it still feels smooth and sweet and creamy in the drydown. Not quite gourmand, but I can see a spiced lemon cake smelling like this straight out of the oven. Nasheet is perfect for fall or winter as well as the colder part of spring; I wouldn’t wear this once I can comfortably wear t shirts. Lasts 5-6 hours before becoming a skin scent, and can still smell after 10.  I haven’t compared this to Ani directly, but it’s apparently very close. One of Lattafa’s better offerings.

Ramz Silver (Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male)

The second fragrance I’ve had that I truly don’t understand the hype for. Starts off strong with vanilla and pear and a touch of herbal spice underneath. A decently well-made, balanced fragrance. Then a synthetic bubblegum drowns it all out. Up to six inches away, all I can smell is synthetic bubblegum. Someone on Parfumo described it as “chewing gum spit out by an alien from Planet Pear Mint” with sage added, and that’s unfortunately better than anything I could come up with. Bubblegum note lasts even as the opening fades. Would work well on a younger man (<25) or at a club, but too synthetic and loud for daily wear or around the office.

Ta’Weel (Louis Vuitton L’Immensite)

A lovely light citrus with strong ginger and hints of amber. I discovered I like my citrus a bit woodier. Even for a freshie, a bit too light of a scent – doesn’t bring the aromatic green notes found in L’Immensite or the Montagne clone. Not very strong performance and needs re-application, but the longevity is likely due to being a freshie with a weak-ish base rather than a statement about Lattafa quality.

Discussion Anyone catch those Lattafa Zanzibar ads on WillowTV during the world cup opener?

It was absolutely wild to see a Lattafa Zanzibar ad repeatedly during the USA vs Canada opener game in the cricket T20 World Cup today. It was on Willow TV.

The ad looked great too. It didn't look cheap at all.

So dupe brands got TV ad money now, and they're not afraid to use it!

In Search Of Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille dupe/clone

Hi everyone, I hope I’m posting this in the right place. The past few days I’ve been desperately searching for and comparing reviews etc for TF TV dupes, but I’m just ending up more lost than anything

Basically I wanna know what a great dupe is which is specifically more on the smokey, woodsy, vanilla side (my three favourite notes) and less on the cloves and spices side

A lot of the dupe names I keep coming across people keep mentioning cloves and spices and saying the vanilla is subtle so idk which ones are closer to my personal tastes

The ones I’m tossing around are..

  • Charuto Tobacco Vanille
  • Al Haramain Amber Oud Tobacco
  • Alhambra Tobbaco Touch
  • Oil Perfumery Tobacco Vanille (which people say is good but I’d prefer a spray than roll on)
  • Miim Miic 43 Smokey Vanilla Wood (which I’ve been circling around for days and am currently leaning towards)

I just want a nice going out fragrance. It doesn’t have to last for days, I just wanna smell good on a night out

Any advice would be amazing! Thanks!

TL;DR I’m looking for a TF TV dupe/clone that leans more smokey vanilla wood and less cloves and spices. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Teen male. What am I missing? I’m looking to add to my collection and looking for recommendations about Al hamarain gold edition, a good pdm greenly clone, and a good vanilla fragrance for the fall/winter. Looking for all suggestions though, favorites so far are ysl y intense, lattafa khamrah, and nitro red. Looking for fragrances under 50$, and hopefully from Arabian brands so I can buy together.

New Pickup / Review My first buy from Maison Alhambra

My first buy from Maison Alhambra.

I mainly blind bought it bcs i saw it was like around $10 online, and if i don't like it, then it's only $10.

Plus if i go to the shop, it would costs me at least twice that and that's not including the effort to actually go there.

I also seen some reviews on it, and what it's supposed to smell like. That also encourage me to go for it.

However when i try to smell it, it immediately remind me of places such as duty-free zone, also how it's kind of smells so fimiliar. I feel like i used to smell this almost everywhere.

It's not a bad smell. It's just, it smells like a lot of perfumes out there already. It's just doesn't stand out enough for my taste.

I never smell the actual SWY, so i cant really compare but the bottle is good, the cap is good, the smell is what a perfume should smell.

In Search Of Any good clones of JPG Le Male Le Parfum?

Hi guys. I bought a decant of JPG Le Male Le Parfum and I really love the smell, longevity & the drydown. But the original bottle might be too expensive for me.

I'm looking for good clones, ones with good projection, longevity and the smell is pretty close to the original. I've found a few clones on the web but I haven't tried them yet.

New Pickup / Review BEAST MODE! - Ard Al Zaafaran Al Dirgham

Post image

This fragrance right here is wonderful. It’s got a kinda fruity, floral citrus smell which pushes of the skin soo much! I kid you not I sprayed this twice and it filled the room up! I even have shopkeepers asking me to get it for them… Currently buying one of them right now for them😅 Also, I haven’t smelt CAHS since it’s the clone of it apparently. But I believe this trumps it in performance and longevity! Banger

I know about that Emir one but its not available where I am from, does someone know any other similar fragrances with a nice citrus vibe and a masculine smokey/wood drydown that ICB has?

Tried CDNIM edt and it was pretty nice but felt the longevity/silage wasnt as people say it is, pretty mid imo, was just curious if there are any other dupes

New Pickup / Review Khadlaj Karus Blu Spice (LV Imagination clone)

Post image

Hello guys, I just picked this up and thought I’d give a review. I’m still new to fragrances so bear with me. I’m doing a side by side comparison with the original and the original has more of a clean soapy dry down smell, it smells like it was blended tastefully, whereas the clone has an overpowering citrus smell all throughout. You’ll get subtle hints of tea but not enough. Of course it lasts nowhere near or projects like the original, but for $40 USD, it’s a good attempt. My girlfriend cannot tell the difference between the two.

Just received this fragrance and I was so excited until my little girl said it smelled like trash bag. Now I can't get over how it does remind me of the lemon scented trash bags we buy.
