Game Suggestions Megathread /r/Steam Monthly Game Suggestions Thread.
Welcome to the Monthly Game Suggestions Thread!
Do you not know what to play? You found a niche game that everyone should try? Can't find the perfect survival sim or unsure which 1 RPG out of the thousands available you should buy? Well this is the thread for you. This monthly megathread is meant to contain questions about what to play and suggestions to others on what to play.
Now to make this work best and not just be spammed with "What should I play?", please be in-depth in what type of games you are looking for, and when giving advice it would be appreciated if you're more detailed than "I think X game is good". There are too many games to be able to properly suggest something with no background information, like-wise commenting a game title and saying you like the game offers no actual value.
The main purpose of this thread is to contain questions on what to play and advice to others on what to play, but feel free to ask and discuss freely in the comments regarding games whether you want advice on what to play, want to give advice to others on what to play, share a hidden gem you found, discussions & questions about discounts, sales, events, or just general games discussion.

PSA PSA: Valve added deadzones to every Steam Input controller with a Client update and it's messing up racing/fps games. Here's how to fix.
An update released on May 16th reverted a change Valve had made to Steam a while back, where every game by default had no deadzone at all, which was a very welcome change from the original settings where every game had a massive deadzone on the inner and outer areas of both sticks.
Now, for some reason, Valve reverted that change and we are now back to the original settings and all games have deadzones now. What's worse is that there's no setting to completely disable the deadzones globally so you have to change them back for every game individually.
TEMPORARY FIX:
Go to any game's details page and click the controller icon on the right side (next to the cog icon), then go to Edit Layout, then Joystick, then click on the cog icon next to the joysticks (cause you need to change both), then go to Deadzone, and then change it from "Default Size' to "Custom". Then you are going to drag the sliders so that they are at 0 and 100, to fully remove the deadzone. You have to do this for both joysticks, for every single game in your library, one by one.
Alternatively, if you have an Xbox controller that doesn't need it, disable Steam Input altogether.
Thanks Valve, very nice.

Discussion Appreciation Post - I'm glad we have steam
It's no wonder we hear that GABEN's ultimate strategy is for competition to shoot themselves on the foot and I'm glad that there is at least one platform that remains neutral and in favor of gamers.
This might seem out of blue but I've realized this quiet late as I've entered the gaming sphere a bit late for my age, and I am in awe with how steam manages itself.
Like recently, I got myself Ghost of Tsushima and as I'm not so worried (atm) about linking my steam to PSN, I create a new id on PSN and linked them. Started a bit of the multiplayer part and I didn't like my ID so I went I tried changing it.
TO my freaking surprise PSN notified me that the first change is free but your next change would be chargeable and I'm like WTF? you charge for changing usernames now?
And I looked over the internet and realized this is a common thing on xbox or battlenet, like seriously and gamers are just taking it? Can't they see how good steam's policy is, have a shitty username but they allow you to change your alias which is what everyone sees, and it's free to change as many freaking times you want.
That is all, Thanks GABE, thanks for creating Steam.

Question is there any way to mark a game as done? then display non-done games.
My goal is to see in about 5 seconds what games I have not finished and then I can easily pick a game. I'm trying to avoid the whole "spend more time browsing than playing" (see Netflix for example).
Right now I have about 20 collections for things like action-rpg, metroidvania, city-builder --> then when I finish the game I create the same category but with done-action-rpg, done-metroidvania, done-etc.
is there a better way to mark a game as done?
(what are the popular or best ways that people organize their steam games?)

Fluff I just got a Community Message thanking me for reporting a profile and that action has been taken. The weird part is the last time I reported a Steam account was in 2019 and I haven't been playing any VAC/Valve games recently...

Question Family sharing EA titles on Steam
Has anyone here tried family sharing games on Steam that require EA play to launch in the background and require an EA account?
Does it work? If yes, how? Does the family member need my EA account too or do they link it to their own?

Question Steam Family: Can't add friends to children's accounts - can anyone help?
I set up Steam family and parental controls for my three kids.
I can't add friends to their accounts (not even with each other).
The "generate link" on 'add a friend' is grayed out. When I use the code option, the target account will pop up, but "add friend" is grayed out.
Can anyone help?

Question So seems my Thumstick is damaged
So just noticed my left thumb stick is damaged on my Deck, this is a base 64GB model that I've had since launch, is this an easy repair or is it time that I upgrade to the OLED model?
It's seems to be able to spin when a touch it the other stick can't do that, I've been playing fine, but don't know if this will eventually turn into a bigger issue.

Question why steam web doesn't allow me to open account on google or youtube?
r/Steam • u/Kandroviek • 2h ago
Question Interested in Steam
I know next to nothing about Steam but I’m interested in getting a steam deck because of its portability. I’m posting this in this sub as well as the Steam deck sub.
I VERY casually gamed on Xbox, playing Fallout 4, Fortnite, Minecraft, and Starfield, amid some other games and I’d like to play those kinds of games but in a more portable way.
What should I know before joining the Steam community in layman’s terms?
If I’m looking for portability would a Nintendo switch be more my speed?
I’ll be happy to answer any clarifying questions, thanks in advance!

Question Alternate Ways to Buy Steam Powered Gift Cards with Amazon Gift Cards?
Hey everyone, I have some already loaded gift cards in my amazon.ca account. I would like to purchase a steam deck but alas the amazon doesn't carry steam cards unless they're through a thirty party seller and this way more expensive. The inky other company gift card I could think of was bestbuy.ca but once again, they also don't sell steam cards. I know there are Canadian Gift Cards trade and sell sites but there's are for Amazon cards that haven't been added yet. Any ideas? I don't have any friends or family who are looking to make a large Amazon purchase that I could just exchange for cash.
